The Aid & International Development Forum will take place on July
22-23, 2010 in Washington D.C., USA.
Aiming to improve cross sector collaboration and catalyse international
development efforts, governments and international organizations, civil society
and the private sector will participate to discuss policy, the needs of the
sectors, and exchange best practice.
This is the first event to
encompass the development sector as well as humanitarian aid, relief and
development. The event is a worthwhile opportunity for the aid, relief and
development sector to network, build partnerships and address global
humanitarian and development challenges, as well as showcasing goods and
services to those who are responsible for delivery.
Building partnerships for development is a key objective supporting the MDGs
and will be a central focus of the workshop sessions. Also discussed will be
multi-stakeholder partnerships to help developing countries make full use of
information and communication technologies; maximizing the benefits of foreign
direct investment; capacity building and training.
Workshop sessions are specifically designed to improve coordination and
cross-sector understanding, resulting in increased efficiency in the way
challenges are addressed; solutions are designed and are then distributed.
As well as featuring suppliers of goods and services in the provision of
disaster relief, humanitarian aid and the development of health, education and
basic utilities in developing economies, the event will feature a number of
workshop sessions addressing key issues such as climate change, combating
infectious diseases, global partnerships for development and logistics and
procurement.
International partnerships and the integration of local and global spheres
is essential to the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).
